oh sorry
i guess i cant include brook since i dont really know his backstory
i skipped through most of it
i assume his backstory is he died and since he has his devil fruit so he came back to life but got seperated from his body, and after years he finds it but it has deteriorated to only bones and the rest of his crewmates died and he was alone for some years, and he could never fulfill his promise of returning to laboon
i think thats the bulk of it
i just think their backstories are very similar. its a lot of the same stuff
they lose someone or some people that they were very close to and its very sad and all that and theres "the man"who is too much for anyone to stand up to him and then theres someone they're close to does something astounding or "unexpected" in terms of sacrificing themselves
and its a big sad story or hardships
Nami's was definitely very different, I agree. She's arguably the most strong willed character in the series. You pretty much got the gist of Brook's story. If you watch and put yourself in his shoes, you might feel slightly different toward it, that's what I did at least. I did enjoy how they showed how corrupt the Government is in the Franky flashback though, that's I first began to realize how complex the series is..I do not regret giving OP a chance and it's all thanks to Naruto's sucky ass chapters that we've received in the past few weeks.

Brook, Robin and Chopper. Chopper's past was the most saddening. Just felt sorry for the guy.

Franky's past was sad aswell.

Oh don't get me wrong, Naruto is still my all time favorite manga. It's just been pretty meh for me. Madara has made it enjoyable again and I never really liked Madara like that.

I just don't understand how people can put the other crew member's backstory over Brook's. Brook's former crew and its members were like a family to him, but he soon lost half of them due to illness, or at least they had to split up because of it. He had to send his captain, who he respected very much, and the others out to the open sea, while playing their favorite song.

Later on he loses the rest of them after a battle with another pirate crew. Not only did he have to stay alive for a few uneventful decades, all alone, but he had to live with the fact that he was now only bones. He felt sadder than death, as stated by himself. The only thing that made him strong enough to stay alive was all because of a promise he made with a whale.

I'm not saying that the other Strawhats' backstories weren't sad. They lost someone close to them, or labeled as a monster, or even had to escape the world. But being all alone, with the remains of your friends, on a ship that sailed aimlessly for more than fifty years, sounds more than painful enough. Dreaming of your friends, every single day, but always waking up to the harsh reality, seems so cruel. One can't imagine how lonely he must have been.

How far are you into reading one piece??

All the straw hats have a story and so so a LOT of other characters, cant say the same for naruto, and naruto its about to end....one piece is maybe half way with 8-10 years to go.

OT:

imo it has to be brook or robin.

easily nami seeing her mother get shot then having to spend most of her life working for the crue that killed her mother plus she had the burden of trying to free her village then have arlong betray her

robin is second, living a sad childhood always being alone without a loving parent then having her mother and home town destroyed and being hunted down by the navi

but there's no wrong answer to this question really, as it is hard to judge whose was harsher, for me its namis seeing how she worked for her mothers killers and her villages captives all in the hopes of freeing her home town and it it turns out that arlong was going to prevent it from happening

lmao what's so complex about Naruto then? A villian who's obsessed over a 12 year old girl who wants to change the world? LOOOOOL dkm XD

The reveals of the void century is much more complex then what Naruto has to offer. That isn't an opinion, it's a fact.

Nico Robin easily had the saddest back story. She was treated with hate by her fellow children, and when she was just like 9 years old, she had the navy obliterate everyone and everything she ever held dear to her. She was then sent on the run with nowhere to go, always haveing to watch her back, for many years.

Brook comes closest after that. He lost his crew to a poison, and couldnt fulfill his promise to laboon. He had to endure many many years of loneliness. But aside from just being alone, he did not suffer. When he died with his crew, they died happily. (unlike robins people)

So honestly which do you think is sadder?

A young little girl, haveing her village of harmless people, and her island and mom completely obliterated, and then being forced to suffer for 20 years while running around, never being able to trust anyone?

or

Brooks crew getting poisoned, and dieing, leaving him all alone for many years.

Brook at least had happy memories to look back on. Robin didnt really have much of that. Brook was greiving while Robin was scarred for life.

Now it will be much happier when brook sees laboon than when Robin finds out the true history.

all of k11 have backstories
they might not be as dramatic but they have them
not to mention that even the antagonists have backstories
not one of one pieces antagonists have a backstory as to why they even antagonize

the void world isnt complex its not even a little confusing its just 'this is what happened a long long time ago'
it hardly pertains to what is currently going on
the void century doesnt relate to haki, it doesnt relate to devil fruits, it doesnt luffy
