As we know that even the hachibi has some degree of respect for the kyuubi seeing the way he decribed kyuubi to naruto.so i doubt hachibi alone can bring him down,if u were to choose any other bijuu to assist hachibi out of these three(two tails with it inhuman strength,5tails with an inhuman speed and 7tails for its substitution tech that last for 7 turns which would you choose + hachibi vs kyuubi

Apart from 1, 8, 9 tails ( and 3 and 6 tails in anime) , we don't know anything much about the powers of the other tailed beasts..........:flaw:
Returning to your question, Hachibi and Kyubi are close in strength and must have been rivals earlier. Also, considering the tailed beasts' powers increase as the number of tails increase, 7tails + 8tails > 9tails.
