Not to mention it's an irrelevant side character messing with main character relationship. Even the biggest dumbass has enough common sense to know that's impossible.

Have you read any other Shounen Jump Manga's it's possible. The series hasn't even dropped yet, so nothing is set in stone.

I will agree with one thing the OP said. No one should make assumptions on what to expect because they think they know how the Author is.
