I would say the Akatsuki fanboys have largely dissipated, though they haven't been a staple of the manga for years now so it's kinda expected.

But as far as current characters, I wouldn't say the fans have decreased. Some of the more vocal fanboys have jumped off the bandwagon of said character (like Madara fans jumping ship after last chapter, some of Kakashi's fans aren't around since no more Kamui, etc), but the true fans are always around. So it's not really a net decrease.

I would say it's Kakashi. Even 2 years ago if anybody insulted kakashi, it was considered blasphemous. His fans would bash the shit out of the abusers. And now some people have gone as far as calling him 'Kakashit'

But surprisingly very few people actually defend Kakashi when I see him being insulted nowadays. Once upon a time Kakashi was an iconic figure of Naruto, even more than Sasuke or Itachi...and now plenty of people call him useless, while some put of on the level of Sakura.

I feel bad for Kakashi, truly shameful how the once mighty Kakashi has fallen so low

Kakashi because we never see anything from him anymore. All he ever does is spam the same justu's. The hype for Lalashi is gone. Although like a true fan i shall remain loyal to Kakashi. BTW Kakashi never had a bigger fanbase than Itachi.

Kakashi has a very loyal fanbase , we stick to our character , he still one of our favorites , but now he is useless , we can't defend him , for example what Sauske said was true , why should I say otherwise? what you've said about Kakashi is only from the haters who completely hated Kamui & are jealous of such an OP feat that solos their fave , so now that he lost it every hater is hating & every wanker is leaving .

Minato's fanbase is also a loyal one & he's still in the battlefield , but why would his fans say anything if he was out for a couple of chapters ? making wank threads about characters like Hiruzen for example doesn't mean they have a big fnabses , it's mostly trolls or fake fans who only ruin the character .......smart fans don't do that .



The answer to this thread is Madara , a lot of people hopped on his penis as soon as he took over , people who were never fans of him & now that he got trolled , people are wanking Kaguya & all those d1ckriders left Madara .

Well, when Deidara debuted in Part II he quickly gained a huge amount of fans, especially squealing fangirls, and so did many other Akatsuki members. But now that whole thing is mercifully quiet, though I guess Yaoi pairings of them are still popular.

I also believe there used to be a larger Gaara fanbase back during Part I.

Other characters' popularity fluctuates due to those who hope on and off the bandwagons depending on story events.
