Which characters did you overcome your dislike for?

A looooooot of character bashing on this site, been that way since at least 2011 so i'm not surprised. That said, anybody ever just get over it?

Like just reevaluate a character and begin to like them for even the smallest reason? Like, ignored the fanbase and just legit read the manga? Why?

I've grown to like Boruto, Itachi Uchiha and Hidan a lot oddly. I also (despite the constant fanwanking) can appreciate the sensitivity of Sasuke and the fact he's not being a vengeful d*ck lately makes him actually very cool. Even in that strange tuxedo.

Back in 2012-2013 I used to be a fan of Naruto and I disliked Sasuke a little bit (never hated him, just didn't understand his character hence didn't feel any empathy). But since the ending of the manga, it's quite the opposite. I also was a hater of Sakura, but now I'm relatively neutral about her.

 

[Defence]

I don't dislike any character particularly. I had stages in the manga where I felt frustrated with certain characters in certain situations. I hated naruto being self righteous and frankly unlike naruto post Pein arc. But grew to like him more in the later stages. I use to like Sasuke's character esp his dark side but feel that the change betrayed his characterisation iykwim. Female characters are mostly a let down bar a few circumstances.

For me it's the fandom that can ruin a character for you. The current sasuke wank is hard to tolerate lol. Having said that, I remember when lots of people disliked sasuke for no good reason.

Madara is my fav. Characters like Lee, Neji, Gaara, Bee, Kakashi, Hinata and Shika are relatable

Everyone hates Danzo but I have never disliked him. He and Oro are fav's of mine along with Madara.

Sakura really grew on me early Shippuden. Her role with Lady Chiyo vs Sasori was a good and rare moment where it felt like she's the third member of team 7 and a deserving main character. Great fight!

Back when I just started watching, I used to dislike Shikamaru, or rather, his voice. But then I switched to reading the manga and the voice wasn't an issue anymore.

Nope. I'm pretty good with grudges & I still go by my initial judgements. Still dislike Choji and a few others. I liked a few characters at first and grew to dislike them though.

Aw, I consider part of chouji's arc to be the fact that you're meant to dislike him at first and then he wins you over, that's a shame D:

I disliked Sasuke and at a point Naruto, I just could not get it when people say Sasuke's cool, and Naruto was just too dumb, but now I'm kinda indifferent towards the both of them, though I think I like Sasuke more

I use to dislike Oro back then cause of how ****ed up he was and MJ jokes, but I soon came to realise both Oro and MJ are fabulous, and are praised for how amazing they are in their field of work.

also I like Oro's moveset in the Storm series.

Ahah that's ironic, Minato became my least favourite nin originally from how cheap he was in Every installment

I disliked Sasuke after he awakened Mangekyou. I only started liking him again the moment he said "I Lost" cuz I knew we had tge old Sasuke back.

And even tho Madara is one of my favs I also disliked him cuz broke to many Naruto rules and honestly should've been defeated long time ago. His plot shield was greater than the main characters.

Nawh. He's still a retarded failure of a comic relief character. Him being obese just isn't funny to me & Shikamaru is still the leader of Ino-Shika-Cho. He tried punching Hidan...in their second encounter....he was a *****. Not so much anymore. You're frickin Godzilla, cop on. *smack*

First of all, I don't hate characters, I just find some more interesting than others. I always found Hinata's shyness kinda. . . annoying. . . all the helplessness and fainting in Naruto's presence.

But, as the story progressed, so did the character. . . aka no more shyness. =D

I always hated Rin but now I just want to **** her in the ***.
