Sasuke would be my second, for he had to watch his family die and be tortured by the person he loved most. Itachi had to kill his family, torture the person he loved most, and live his life as a hated criminal. The entire reason for Sasuke's uncontrollable hatred for Konoha these last few hundred chapters was because he was raging over the unfathomable suffering Itachi endured, asking for nothing in return for himself, all for the sake of the village and his brother.

Gaara would be my third. His story was so tragic, especially because baby Gaara was so cute..

- lived as an orphan, starving to near death
- had no companions or helpers
- when he finally got a dog, it was murdered
- when he got friends, his best friend who saved his life was murdered by his own hands
- his sensei abandoned him
- had to live with the guilt with countless comrades dying
- had to start a civil war with more death and pain
- had to kill his sensei
- had to see himself become the villain at the end
- died for the very village that killed his parents
- he was reanimated and had to fight the very person he gave up his life for
- was manipulated his entire life by a guy who was only 13 when he met him

It's a close call between a few of the characters. I would put Sasuke, Itachi, and Nagato at first three for the most painful life from early on, and then Gaara. Sasuke saw his entire clan murdered and was mentally tortured by his own brother at a tender age of 7. That's just ****ed up, beyond imagination. And no one can fill up the gap of murdered family; it's insane and infinitely immature anyone would even suggest that.

Gaara was traumatized from the very day he was born, He got mind ****ed by Yashamaru, when he tried to kill Gaara and he said he hated his, when gaara though he was his only friend.

Also Gaara was Far far more mentally unstable than sasuke was, Gaara grew up in a world with No Family/no friends/No love. Sasuke had all of these.

Are you actually suggesting that being mentally ****ed up somehow increasing the chart climb here? Are you forgetting that this guy enjoyed life his own way, by murdering people and seeing blood to satisfy himself and groveling in the feeling that he 'felt alive'?

Sasuke's family on the other hand was murdered by his own brother, who mentally tortured him and left him amongst the corpses of his parents under an illusion that played these events over and over again? Gaara at that age had someone to love. His maternal uncle, who only later tried to kill him, after that, he tried to find satisfaction in killing others, which he did.

I can't believe you are even suggesting that he should value a school girl crush, and an annoying blond headed retard over the loss of his family and actually give place to no-bodies in his heart in place of his murdered parents, and kith and kin? Are you actually implying this? Are you serious man? Would you put your school friends over your killed mother and father? Give me a break.

And Kushina and Minato chose to die. They're the most horrible bastards who shunned their own kid for the sake of village. I have no sympathy for them. Sasuke, Nagato, Itachi, and Gaara had little choice in their life.

@OP: Gaara, Itachi, Sasuke, Nagato, Kakashi, Kabuto, Naruto, Tsunade, Minato/Kushina, Obito, Zabuza, Ino-Shika-Cho. This order from most pain to least makes the most sense to me.

I agree with what you are saying but accusing someone of being a fan boy for having a different opinion than your own is very dumb so you should go edit your post to make it more respectful.

Sasuke was manipulated and deceived. Gaara despite his horrible childhood he found his way after fighting Naruto and has friends and a village that supports him. There is no reason for him to feel any major pain anymore. Kushina had a great life, a Husband who was hokage and a village. On the Other hand Itachi had terrible experiences, he chose to gave everything for the village at the cost of his own reputation and honor, he had to watch his brother hate him and everyone he chose to protect, he had to kill his own clan and parents. The only moment he could really smile(after the massacre) was at his death.

I've seen you complain about all sorts of people who you deem to be Sasuke fan boys. I am a Sasuke fan though and I do agree that he has some pretty stubborn fan boys although BlackDude can seem biased for Sasuke at times but he is no fan boy IMO. Quite logical unlike SasukeSixPacks, Sasukeninjaway, Orthodox and a few others who are quite deplorable.

That's the problem of your perspective then, nothing more. Why should he put his so-called friends at the same level as his family and kin? Why should he care for a couple of no-bodies in the village? Are blood relations that easily forgettable in your opinion, then something as petty as school friendship and unnamed people in village take precedence over it? No they don't.

No offense, but your points about 'turning his back on the village' are pretty funny. Is it some sort of obligation on Sasuke to entertain all the village? Are you suggesting that all the village cared for him as they cared for their children, family, and would - if time came - lay down their lives for him like Itachi did? Naruto is the only one who qualifies this category, the only one. No one else. I wouldn't give a damn about a bunch of no-bodies myself, who would?

He chose this path because of Village's skewed policies. I don't think I even need to illustrate the village management's gross hunger for power and the mass genocides they committed for superiority. You have to keep everything into perspective, in lieu of looking at just one side of the coin. Sasuke shuns the concept of Nation, patriotism ... why should be uphold them? Is there any freaking reason to do so? He's the most evolved character mentally out of the whole manga, who follows his own instinct and doesn't care for such petty ideals humans/ninjas create for themselves. If you're faulting him for this, and consistently belittling him that he should do this and that, then that's very lopsided, if anything else, because it's only your opinion that friends take preference over blood relations, when they never do, not in a million years.

Gaara chose a sense of repose by murdering others. What was Sasuke's repose? Just because you think Gaara was in pain, doesn't man he was. When he started killing people to feel alive, he was satisfied in his own manner. Doesn't seem like a sob-story to me. As for Kushina and Minato, and **** them; they are parents first and soldiers later. I have no sympathy for those *******s.

Itachi- Was a peace loving man, but had to kill his clan and parents, turnt his little brother into a avenger

Sasuke- Grew up alone and was the only survivor of his clan, Didn't know why Itachi really killed there clan, Found out his "evil" brother had always loved him and Obito had made him an International Criminal.
