Which character DID you favor at first before it went main-stream?

I always kinda favored Sasuke when I first got into the series (who didn't? Lol), especially when he was introduced in Part 2, but I grew a bit tired of him after his fight with Itachi. He lost some of the qualities that made him cool to me, imo.

Minato was another character I immediately liked from the start. The whole mystery surrounding him, and how the characters wished he was still around to deal with the events in the series was awesome. Even the theories about how he could have been the Akatsuki leader were interesting.
I always preferred his silent, enigmatic appearances compared to when we saw him in Gaiden/Shippuden, but it was still badass nonetheless.

Surprisingly, I didn't care a whole lot about Kakashi until Shippuden. The part where he fought against Kakuzu won me over quite quickly, and he's been one of my faves since. xD

Before it went mainstream? Hiruzen. Such a cool old man... every time he was around other Shinobi, you could sense this feeling of warmth and protection and he was always handing out knowledge and showing wisdom. People are going to be D riding him when he opens up a can of old man whoop ass.
