Whilst I love the attention for him, Jugo berserking would likely try to kill the escort also.

Pretty good combo, Deidara's attacks aren't really defensive but you're paying for the flying luxury alone. Kisame is great for multiple opponents should there be an ambush (as well as simply being the strongest one available) but Karin & Deidara are a great combo. Karin, Gato and Dei on owlback, Karins on sensory UAV watch whilst Deidara can deploy a clay explosion in any direction a threat may be coming.
