One of the Greatest known anime to date + awesome video games

Both have iconic figures
Both are "gateway" animes.
Both started around the same time in America.
September 1998 and September 1996
Both have video games, card games(one being a bit more popular), and manga attached to them as well.


Which do you feel has had a bigger influence in the U.S. and caused more people to like anime in general because of these 2 great animes?

pokemon last forever in episode listing.. but DBZ anime had a craze... Pokémon anime didn't have a craze .. the cards & games were the big things about them.

Pokemon was intense back in '98 to '03ish. Everyone played the videogames, watched the show. No one did the cards. Yugioh came out and that was the shit for a few years. Everyone would play during lunch. Hell I went to a birthday party in 4th grade at a card store where we all played Yugioh

However, Dbz also had a big impact as it's popularity in the early 2000's drove more animes into the west such as Naruto, Bleach, FMA etc. which all well recognised series.
