Where was Minato when Obito "died" ?

As the title says I don't understand where Minato went during the whole mission. We can see him in the beginning helpin kakashi but then he disappears. Maybe I am wrong so could you help me clarify some things ?
Where was he ? Why didn't he help them ?

when kakashi became jonin, the team was disbanded
it was team kakashi(kaka, obito, rin) and minato(by himself)
so he just went with them a little bit, then went on his own mission
