Hi! people of NB...
Recently I developed a liking to the comics, I began DC with Rebirth and read most of New52 ones too.
So now I want to get into Marvel too, so any direction on that? Like luckily DC rebirth came at the perfect time and I continued...
I'm not much interested in X-men for now, just Avengers related stuff... But if anyone has a good plan for X-men too, I'd appreciate it.
This may be just because I grew up with the cartoon but The X-Men are pretty dope stories. Read anything by Chris Claremont if you decide to try them I don't think it'd be much of a stretch to say Chris is why The X-Men had such staying power(Dark Pheonix, Days of Future Past etc.)
Wolverine & The X-Men was really enjoyable to me as well but you'd need to read schism first and before you read schism you'd need a good history rundown for it to really have the same oomph it did to people who grew up with the team. AvX and Messiah War are kind of connected in that they deal with Hope Summers.
Uncanny X-Force by Rick Remender is a must read.
As for non X titles,
Jeff Lemire has been doing some solid writing on Hawkeye and Moonknight.
As my sig and ava may tip I love Deadpool.
There's tons of different Avengers titles especially now, I'd recommend finding a team you like and just going with that one.
Mark Waid's Daredevil(and most of his work) was one of my favorite more recent runs. If you don't want to have to go too far back for most of these you could try picking up at the Marvel NOW! rerelease from a few years back.
Ed Brubaker's Immortal Iron Fist was really good and it'd be a good read if you plan to watch the Netflix series. Ed's a good writer I haven't read a series by him I didn't like. Ed's done a lot of Captain America stories, Ed's responsible for Winter Soldier. He had a good run on DD.
A lot of people seem to not like Bendis' work but the series I've read from him have been better than the events he gets to do. His Daredevil was pretty solid from what I remember though. If you like Miles Morales at all you can thank Bendis, if not you can blame him lol. He has gotten to write a lot of the current Avenger stuff though.
Matt Fraction worked on Iron Fist with Ed and he's had a lot of good works too. He did a really good Iron Man, I haven't read his Thor but his Hawkeye was fantastic. Iron Man and Hawkeye were two characters I didn't really care that much about but figured I'd try since his work with IF and glad I did.
If I can think of other titles or authors I'll pop back in or shoot you a VM.
Just remembered, Ed McGuinness is a good artist I really like his work you should check out some of his stuff. Acuna's good too.
