Good as guess as any. He's lucky others went to Wano or we'd have never saw Zoro again.

You don't have a single idea of what character development is, you simply stated Zoro's personality, dafuq that got to do with his character development?

I agree, that in depth backstory and his dream to be the strongest. Put together with that personality where he often talks to other people about the things that interest him or his motivations to do things. You never see him just slacking off or isolating himself in his own room when the crew is doing things together. But that is just on the Sunny.
He really shines during the arcs where problems need to be solved because Oda gives him the important roles like getting his swords back from fairies, or riding on the back of a crocodile man to escape poison gas and keep an eye on the people who are solving the gas situation. Very important, and he really steps up to his vice captain role when he shouts at his captain. DONT UNDERESTIMATE THE NEW WORLD !. Probably a lesson learned from that time he got put into a cage in the first arc of the New World. So smart that he keeps everybody on their toes.
Because when the end of an arc is drawing near, you might not expect him to do it. But there he is again. He will beat that second strongest enemy. Amazing what creativity. And the only thing that is sharper than is swords is his tongue, When he finishes his foe with a one liner.
Zoro is the pinnacle of interesting characters. I hope Oda gets a pulitzer prize one day just because Zoro is the glue of the story of One Piece.
Usopp shows regression at times (Dressrosa). Luffy is a pretty stagnant character tbh. You would think he would change after Ace's death, but he acts almost identical to how he was pre timeskip.
Zoro went from putting his goal > Luffy.

Zoro is also much more serious than he was pre timeskip, he went from a nonchalant person to keeping Luffy in check.

He cares a lot for the moves the strawhats make, before he used to allow Luffy to make decisions on a whim, sleeping 99% of the time, but the New World and his changed role in the strawhats demand him to do this, in his mind atleast.

In other words he is much more serious now than ever.
Zoro completely molded from simply a strong fighter in the strawhats to Luffy's right hand man (VC mentality). He showed some of the most growth among the SHs. Whether people like his pre ts laid back character over the current more serious character is a complaint of personality preference not character development.

Eh, actually you got a point about Luffy there. He just recently got rescued by Jimbei and then runs off on his own in BM's territory without thinking. Yeah, I thought he would act different after being sent off by Kuma and Ace's death but guess not :/
