Where on earth did the theory of 'Slug Sage's' even come from?

I've heard on the base, more times than I can count, the term 'slug sage'. And you can use whatever theory you want, and it can seem as real as gold, but it's just not actually real.
Not once has the manga ever said anything about Slug Sage (unless I missed something really... REALLY, REALLY huge). There may have been misinterpreted HINTS of it (issue covers from part 1 of the series with Sakura on a slug), but I just don't see it now.
The third Sage training land was Trees of life or something, not Slugs of life. Know who else has a direct connection to wood and trees? Hashirama.
And then... people are trying to argue... that Hashirama is in Slug Sage mode... which I just can't understand... when not once did the word 'slug' come out of his mouth...
These are things that I just don't understand... So I just want to ask, where did Slug Sage mode come from?

People just naturally assumed there was a slug sage mode to correlate with snake sage and toad sage mode.

I wouldn't completely count it out yet, though.

Since there's Snake Sage Mode and Toad Sage Mode, people figured there was a Slug Sage Mode. Mostly Tsunade and Sakura made it up.

there are three sage mode places- one is for toads and the other for snakes. the third one would logically be for slugs.
also, hashirama's descendant tsunade has a slug summon, her counterparts oro and jiraiya have imperfect sage mode, their disciples have perfect sage mode. tsunade's byakugou might be an imperfect variant of slug mode. the slug is also the healing summon, which hashirama is a master of.

Slug Sage Mode would complete the Toad-Snake-Slug thing going on, so canonically it would only make sense. But to say Hashirama has it? That's just a bunch of imbeciles trying to look smart by making far-fetched theories based on zero substantial evidence.

it'd be awesome to see a perfect slug mode from sakura or something...if they decide not to do it i would be a lil bit upset but ultimately it wouldnt hurt the series at all...but it still would be awesome if we could see a slug sage mode nuff said

I get and understand how the Slug/Snake/Toad thing goes, but still. Fact stands that the term Slug Sage has never been said before, and yet people cling to it so tightly.

What frustrates me most is that people who know the series and it's characters very well, are trying to propose that Hashirama, the only person in Narutoverse to ever have a direct affinity with Wood, who clearly said "Sage art Wood" (or something along those lines), and got the Sage mode marks and everything, plus used a Sage art wood summoning... are still trying to say he's in Slug Sage mode.

I don't understand it, not one bit.
