Here's a thought.
Naruto never gave up on Sasuke. He maintained that he was a friend until the very end.
Sakura actually tries killing Sasuke- taking his life into her own hands after the 5 kages summit.
She then has a 'conversion' experience: she believes Naruto can create a happy ending for Team 7 at the same moment.
She, willing to kill Sasuke, maintained her feelings for Sasuke much as Naruto did for him as a brother. There is a terribly incorporated parallel at work here.
So, when Naruto returned him she was willing to forgive him as Naruto did. Whatever.
