Following my thread about Vatican City, aside from the little boys and it being a religious stronghold, I haven't really found out what purpose it serves. So, let's move on. Where does the Pope get his power from? I know he travels around the world spreading hope and good faith, but who gives him that power? He's raised to that position, but who gives the people who raise him to that position the power to do that? Why are they allowed to do that and not just the average everyday Christian? What sets them apart? Fewer sins? Can all of my simple questions be answered by just saying, "God did it" or, "God wants them to"? Am I missing something? What do ya'll think...?
The Vatican's purpose is to coordinate the Catholic Church which has 3 billion members, thats really it but thats a big job, especially with the increase in people wanting to become Priests and Nuns lately, which given the climate is a bit strange...or maybe not
The Pope doesn't really have power, a Pope used to but now its more influence.
The Pope is simply voted in, he is voted in by Bishops and Cardinals and such. Its just an office voted for by High ranking officials. Its not like a country, it would be enormously difficult to plan a voting system for the worlds Catholics as they are vastly scattered and there is no way to control that only Catholics vote, it could be very manipulated.
The Pope nominees are usually those who has done the most good deeds. Pope Francis is lovely, he is at least a small step forward for the Catholic Church.
If any Islamic nation tried to do something like this, watch how fast the nukes fly Lol. I don't get this shit at all. The world favors one religion over so many others.

Not really true that the world favours one religion. Islam is enormous and always has been, there are a great deal of Hindu's Jews, Buddhists and the various branches of the protestant religion
