where do the souls of the sealed go?

That was the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. They're stuck in combat inside of it's stomach for eternity, or something along those lines.

Guess this is the most accurate answer.
I would add that (if it's not obvious) if you're sealed in an object, well you just stay sealed there until they bring you out again, or forever... Anyway sealed souls will never die, they will remain in that state forever.
