where did the naruto manga go wrong?

When the Manga focused too much on the Uchiha Clan.

This and Tobi being Obito is so stupid.

Hmm...

There's just too... much. It's kind of hard to explain without sounding like a twat.

On one hand I feel like some characters/plot/storylines have been stretched too thin - have dragged on a little longer than I'd like.
Example: Ten Tails - the wait/stalling seems stretched, same for Madara. Sasuke plot twists, I'd rather he'd vanish for a bit instead of him displaying a steller case of bi-polar disorder every other panel.

On the other; I feel like some characters/plot/storylines have been completely ignored, left unattended and at the wayside.
Example: Hinata's confession, Sakura/Naruto/Hinata, Yamato, Anko, where are the other nations in this recent battle - are the konoha 11 the only decent fighters left?

And I don't think there's been too much focus on the Uchiha, it's somewhat nessessary considering their involvement in... well, just about every aspect of the plot.

Though I do wish we knew more about the Hyuga... even if it comes out of databooks or whatever.

And in this War Arc - I feel like the cheesy banter (talk-no-jutsu) is a bit too common, so much so that it lessens the weight of it when it's said. It's like when someone says "Sorry" or "I love you" too much, it cheapens the words...
That, and when it's not pep-talk it's fight scenes that just don't hold as much interest as they used to... perhaps due to the Edo Tensei technique making a large portion of it (manga & anime) seem like a rerun...
That and I suppose the entire Shinobi Alliance seems a bit... too fluffy.

That's not to say the War Arc hasn't some brilliant/epic parts to it - Itachi/Nagato vs. Naruto/Killer Bee, Itachi/Sasuke vs. Kabuto, Gaara's 'we are shinobi' speech, Obito's identity revealed, the Hokage banter etc.

THe entire war. Once the war started, Kishi gave up on smart fighting. But that started a long time ago, I'd say it really started back when Orochimaru fought Naruto.

Well said... he introduced too many fodder Zetsus and fodder edo-tensei's that got off-panelled.

He shouldn't have killed all the akatsuki's soo soon, especially Kisame, the dude had so much potential to the point that I was soo sad when Gai one-panelled him like a fodder.

The manga deviated horribly when they introduced the Five Kage Summit after the Pain Invasion.

Not only was it unnecessary, it introduced us to various new characters that didn't play an impact and had no substantial result except for the 'Eye of the Moon' plan being announced and an alliance. But it did take several or dozens of chapters to get that out of the way because of chapters being ridiculously short.

I think the War Arc, the follow up the Kage Summit made it even worse with Edo-Tensei being all too powerful and then sprouting the Itachi soloking and Sasuke soloking crap too.

But the main problem with the manga being led astray is when they decided to make Tobi -> Obito.

Once Kabuto was defeated the took a lot was potentially great battles off the table as far as edo tensi is concerned because it just left the anti climatic juubi, a bored madara, and an increasingly insane obito left to fight. Also once the four kages came into the picture kishi seems to be rushing through it like he's just ready for the war to be over with.

I personally think Naruto was mediocre before the Hidan and Kakuzu arc, but it turned worst-than mediocre when it reached the war arc. I do think the arc had some redeeming potential when Madara was revived, but it turned to crap again after the Juubi was revived.
