Where did the gedo Mazau come from?

After reading this manja for a while it finally hit me...

Where did the Gedo Mazau come from?
I know it is from the cells of hashirama but does anyone have an ideo who made it. Its been a big part of the manga all the way back to the begining but the history of it was never really explained.

Gedo MAZO. get off my nuts grammar nazi. and is this the same thing madara is hooked up to in the manga 602? So Negato used it and so did madara. And it came from senju DNA? That means a senju made it and if a senju made it why are only people that have rinnigan able to use it. And also im guessing it can be moved or is it one of those things that are made and destroyed and made again. pretty much is it one of a kind?

if its a vessel for the 10 tails then its obviously not made from senju dna. its been around since So6P
