Where did the Byakugan come from

Just a curious thought. I was wondering about the origins of the Byakugan of the Hyuga clan. Where could it have come from? Feel free to share your ideas, opinions, conspiracies, etc. Just no "ramen guy's eyes" answers whatnot. :flaw::sy:

I think that the Byakugan was born from a fusion between the Elder Song with Sharingan and someone that didn't have any dojutsu or special kekke genkai. Something like that.

I read that also somwhere, in some trivia about the byakugan & sharingan, kakashi stated that the byakugan had its origins within the sharingan..
