There were certainly too many edo's, I agree.
The fact that Kishi made Sasuke stay evil after Itachi's death screwed his whole future as a shinobi. Even after the war is over, its doubtful he has any future so being killed by Naruto is probably the best option story-wise.
Kishi spent too little time with the Akatsuki. He felt he had to rush their demise when in actuality he should have spent more time on them.
Kishi completely negated the potential of the 7SM. He turned them into fodder that could only have a part as edo tensei. There was certainly the potential to make the 7SM the lead up to the Akatsuki, perhaps several arcs or even its own part at its full potential.
The whole attraction of the story to me was the level of mystery and suspense. With so many secrets revealed at this point, there is less of a mystery factor then ever before in the series.
