Where did his Sennin chakta go?

In chapter 482 Naruto was seen to be in sage mode but in the reunion with Sasuke he was in base mode again. What happened to his Sennin chakra?

Sage mode chakra can be stored. You can activate it or disactivate it. Check Naruto Vs Nagato. He does not have to keep it on continually. I also believe that Hashirama did the same think with the seal similar to Tsunade. He could build Sage Chakra and store it to release it only during a battle.
