Who said he was wrong? He said what he said from how he saw them interact with each other and from what Kakashi told him about them (of their past and such). Sakura is base off a typical girl who falls for the bad boy while a good guy falls for her and she slowly starts to fall for him but still remembers her first love. This is new love vs first love, that's how it is currently but if it changes during the time skip then it does.

Naruto and Sakura are basically like Minato and Kushina. Kushina didn't like Minato at all at first but she fell for him after he was the only one to notice she was missing and saved her. Sasuke told Sakura that Naruto risk death to save her from Gaara and she smiles and thought of Naruto which is when she started to see Naruto more than an annoying kid. She blushes when she first saw him in Shippuden as well as thought how much he's grown.

Kakashi said she doesn't want to make Sasuke hers but to save him and before that he said her love for Sasuke isn't the same. They're only 17, how many people in the world are with the first person they fell in love with or thought they were in love with? Not that many with the high percentage of divorce. You can fall in love with someone else in time and you can be in love with two people at once. You can love them for different reasons, one can be right for you and one might not.

Not saying it's 100% NaruSaku or anything but it's still a possibility. I don't rule out NaruHina either but that's low on the list to me because Hinata only talked to Naruto like 6 times throughout the entire manga, Naruto loves Sakura and said he'll tell her how he feels after saving Sasuke, and he never acknowledged Hinata's confession and months would have past from Pein arc to war arc.
