With so many people around and the fact that Kishimoto has shown that he's not actually afraid to kill characters now (rip neji) I would honestly prefer if they don't do anymore off-panel damage. The fight is in it's final stages and the consequences are just way too big now.

It's easier to make things happen off-panel because there's no work involved in getting your fanbase to believe what you write. It's already there.
