The yonko make up one of three great powers that control the world. The other two being the world government, and the shichibukai( tho since the shichibukai are controlled by the WG it's basically two powers). So I guess the questions are;
1.when did the system get put in place?
2.Was Roger a yonko? Or is PK like a level above the four?
3. what happens to the other three yonko if one achieved PK? ( for example say Big Mom becomes PK, is she PK and an emperor? Does someone take her yonko spot? Or do all remaining emperor's fly BM flag?)
4.Was shanks a yonko when he met luffy at the start of series?
5. Did the WG implement the system? Or is it sorta just a new world pirate pecking order?

Here are my answers
1. I would assume it was established as long as there has been piracy.
2. To me Roger was probably much like luffy and had a small crew and probably has very little regards fir the "rules of new world". He just went from rookie to PK didn't stop in-between.
3. I would think the other three yonko woukd acknowledge the pk as a superior but still control there territories. Maybe make tributes or something, but I would have a very hard time believing kaido would just bend over fir BM just because she's PK.
4. I don't think so but maybe, for as strong and famous as the yonko are, shanks just going to the east blue on a holiday seems kinda like a big deal, but what do I know mihawk did as a shichibukai and he seemed pretty casual. I just think that news and a secret like that would be hard contain, so I think he assumed the rank of yonko sometimes after he was introduced.
5. It's a pirate pecking order, the yonko seem to big and strong to be controlled or even shaped by the world govt. I think the WG would have its hands full if just one yonko went to war with them let alone of they allied, so that volatile of a system could backfire too easily.

Hope you like, what do y'all think?

I have no clue. I assume it was after the death of Roger.
Brook said something about remember a rookie by the name of Roger making some noise before he died and become all dead bones Brook, during the thriller bark arc. I think that statement provides a counter to yours. If clearly before the time of Rogers pirate King reign and run, other pirates created a ranking or title fir rookie or fledgling pirate crews. Just calling Roger a rookie doesn't demean his strength or ability but it affirms that pirates have opinions and tiers for other pirates. If that's the case there was probably was a yonko or other named rank prior to Rogers death

After Roger's execution, when great age of piracy began... Within years there must have been many pirates entering New world and eventually some claiming territories and with the first four(whoever they were or the same as we know it) staying in power for long would have established the system and consequently compelling WG to introduce Shichibukai system too...

Yonko were most likely made when the Great pirate era begin since that makes the most since also if there were Yonko when Roger was around wouldn't Shiki have been one since he was on the top tiers level. This was never stated or hinted that Shiki was a yonko.

I'm not familiar with shiki since I haven't seen the film, but are the one piece movies considered cannon? I was under the impression movies were typically their own universe, and the events and feats of individual weren't true to the manga story. Sure names places etc are factual... shiki does exist in the OP manga. but until his feats are in black and white he's currently just a name I believe..tho I could be wrong about OP movies being cannon

There were already great pirates before and during the Roger era. Rogers death kicked off the golden age of piracy and as you said the new world began seing a huuuge influx of pirates. Why would pirates wait till after his death to come up with the yonko system?

Before there were not many pirates and New World was too big for anyone, during Golden age there must be so many face-offs that the stronger ones declared their dominions so that others remain careful of not getting involved with the big guns.
