Well, take the fight against Hayate Gekko for example. How is that worse than the fight between Hanzo and Mifune? They are both side character battles, without direct impact on the plot, but interesting nonetheless.

Still, some people will like the later and say the first one is bull, just because one is also in the manga while the other isn't. That's idiotic.
