[Discussion] When does Natsu surpass Erza

I was rereading the manga and was wonder what part of the story does natsu surpasses erza

Ever since his first dragon force usage aka his fight against jellal I would assume even though he need etherion to do that. But he legitimately surpassed her after he gained laxus's lighting same with gajeel after he gained rogue's shadow ability.
