Kakashi spoke to his Father when he died in the Pain Arc!
But Zabuza when he spoke to Kakashi he said one minute he was with Kakashi and them on the Bridge, the next minute he was with Haku. And he even asked Haku in the Manga if he was in Heaven

Zabuza said that it was instantaneous from when he died to when he became an edo. So the answer is nothing happens. You get can get fragments like the 4th putting a little chakara into naruto, but that's not the real thing.
