I kind of have short term memory loss

Like sometimes forgetting whether or not if I locked a door or turned off the oven, even though I just did it :|

Heh, me too, but that's partly due to my deficit of attention as I tend to not accord importance to the minor things, like locking the door or where I put my keys etc.

I have. I don't remember what kind I was diagnosed with. And I think I might be over it. I'm definitely better than I was...

It was either an Adjustment Disorder with depressed mood (very common), Major Depressive Disorder Single Episode (60% of people experience one), Seasonal Affective Disorder, Bereavement, or you were a teenager. Most teenagers have mood instability due to chemical imbalances during hormone changes in the body.

My parents have a neighbour who has some kind of mental disorder which includes him talking with himself, constant need to walk, need to steal and then at times he can not do some basic stuff, like he can not take a spoon in his hands, he just stares at it. And if he is not taking his medicines he becomes aggressive. And tbh, I am scared even to walk next to that house.

And I've watched bunch of documentaries about mental disorders to see that people who do have mental illness are people who are incapable of having any kind of life. So, that is why we should use this phrase "mental disorder" a little bit more careful.

And, no, I do not have any mental disorder.

I had pretty bad insomnia about two years ago. Even now, I have a hard time falling asleep, but I've finally gotten back to the point where I stay asleep once I've fallen asleep. I always end up waking up super early though, and I never feel quite rested no matter how much I sleep, though I have my good days.

you make it sound as if your girlfriend is like medication

Having someone you love and look forward to seeing more than anyone else is nice. Gives you another thing to live for.

You're right, I was a bit blunt.

What I meant was, she helped to make me feel a lot better. Even though the move to High School did a great deal of help, it didn't completely rid me of depression. Her being there just made me feel even better. Know what I'm saying?

I have struggled with a few eating disorders and depression in the past. I was present when an 5th grade classmate had an epilepsy seizure, wich led her to passing—and had my closest friend be diagnosed the same ilness 2 years later. I've interacted daily with someone with both schezophrenia and borderline personality disorder.

Knowing there are other people that can relate is sort of comforting, yet sad at the same time. Thank you for this thread.

It could be some kind of anxiety, but not necessarily enough for a full diagnosis. Many people think/process too much before they sleep. It's important to clear the mind before bed. Since a lot of people seem to have insomnia here are some hints:

1. If you take medications (prescription, OTC, or herbal) take it 30min-1 hour before you go to sleep, and wind down while the pills take effect. This usually involves laying in bed and preparing for sleep. Don't do anything active for mind or body.

2. Find a relaxing distracting before you sleep. With some people its reading, others its something like applying lotion. Some people meditate. Try to avoid things that really exercise the mind (like puzzles, philosophical thoughts), those are morning exercises.

3. Deep breathing exercises help as well. Your mind and body need oxygen. Without healthy breathing humans can't reach a calm sense of being. You can practice inhaling up to 8 seconds and exhaling up to 8 seconds. Focus on your breathing, picture the air entering and exiting your lungs.

4. Stay away from music before you sleep. Getting a rhythm in your head before sleep can be very disruptive.

Some good herbal sleeping supplements are Valerian Root, for those who don't like prescription drugs.

I'm pretty sure everyone has some small percentage of mental disorder. I had a REALLY bad anxiety disorder back in high school. I remember passing out in a cold sweat one time during a study hall. What sucks is that when you suffer from one disorder, it causes other problems. Often when I had one panic episode, I'd feel tired and depressed for the rest of the day. I never took any meds but I got better and now I have it mostly under control.
