Pre-tnj Neji was the shit. In good ways.

He was not bad as people made him out to be (yup he has good sides; but not too blatant); he was like that because of his rightful reasons. Yeah rightful no one has any right to change another person's body and freedom for their own safety and the destiny BS he believed in is yet to be proven wrong. His dad died to main family (as if he had another choice), Naruto is child of prophecy and Neji himself died for Hinata Hyuuga; a main family member. I don't even know how Naruto was able to change him 180 degrees with "not giving up" while he already had a teammate who is not been giving up since day 1. Neji basicly become a puppy dog of main family if they were so equal; why he was calling Hinata; someone younger than him with the honorofic of -sama? Hinata was still virtually superior that's all.

And he was about to kill Hinata and make the manga get rid of a waste. That's praise worthy; he could have been a great hero.

What did this author offer in terms of liberation lesson? That you are forever tethered to your family and communal goals, no matter how cruel or unjust they may be? It's your obligation to risk your neck for the oppressors and not break free of the cycle of the oppressors? Neji's fate made me sick to my stomach.

Hinata deserved to die in Neji's place to even the odds. That would have meant that both families are willing to risk their necks for one another. It's BullShit at its finest.

Totally agreed. Neji was fighting his destiny before tnj. Then he decided to play along. His death...fictional yet sickening; it was directly saying "there is no escape" from what they are bound to do. The only one in the manga who shall break free and achieve his goals in the manga is main character; Neji was just another one who made and converted by author just because they can believe and follow Naruto's 1 dimentional ideals for making those idealogies look non-bs and legit. (The others: Gaara, Nagato etc.).

I don't know Why the clans got ignored this much by the kages. Probably author did not want to play over them or simply believes neither Hyuuga or Uchiha deserves equality in the universe he created. Or sucking it and moving on for the clans are the just "right" things for them.
Maybe the author genuinely wants to give the Message of there is No escape from destiny and system. Jingoism? Yeah all this "Will of fire" words suggests such type of idealogy exists in Naruto. And "play the meat shield" thing. İt almost became an obligation.
