What's with the sad history of naruto characters?

I'm sure a lot of you noticed but a lot of Naruto characters have had sad backgrounds/history and its depressing. Take Naruto,sasuke,Itachi,Kakashi,Haku,Kimimaro,Pain,Konan,Yahiko,Kushina, and so many others its ridiculous. I'd like to know your thoughts on this.

its all about rising above the pain dude.

It shows that no matter how hard and depressing your life was, you can still grow to be strong and good willed.

Possibly because the Naruto world is still fighting and are ruled by shinobi. If you think about it, most of the characters you listed were born into/to wartime.

Its to add drama, but eventually all of it makes sense, since the ninja world if a place of wars, and every generation of leaders ushers a war, so it just makes sense
