What's with the animal summons?

Perhaps it's my misconception but if this is a war, why are there no animals being summoned? I thought ninjas summoned animals in times of need like sarutobi did when he fought Oro, naruto and Jiraiya did when he fought pain. Am i the only one finding this strange or what, when do the summons come to help, when the world ends, what are they doing at a time like this, seriously, whats going on?
Don't get me wrong, am not saying they are no animals, we have seen tsunade use her summon but can't other ninjas also do the same especially naruto.

It's because kishi doesn't want to be drawing this manga forever. The giant animals along with all the little people would be too much detail and would take to long to finish the war.

I dont think Everyone Can use them. But They consume alot of chakra to summon, so i think that people wont use them

I know they can't stop the juubi, but don't you think it might have been wise for team kakashi to summon them for help before the situation got out of hand, i mean we are talking about other ninjas as well (who are supposed to be smart) not naruto.
