What's Up With People Taking "Kage-Level" Lightly? It's Overused.

I've seen people compare Lee, Chouji, Hidan, Zabuza, and even Part 1 CM Sasuke as being Kage level. Seriously? Whatever happened to the title of Kage, and why is it so easily acheived?

Well, I think there are a couple things.

First of all, it doesn't help having people like Tsunade and Mei as Kages. Before, Kages were these legendary shinobi that were often shrouded in mystery and power. Then after seeing Tsunade (but mostly Mei) Kage level seemed to be something that could be acheived easier. As much as you argue, Tsunade and Mei can't compare to any other Kage.

Another thing is the power scaling. It's gotten to the point where even Kage level shinobi are being sh*t on by these OP shinobi from day's past. I think it's ridiculous how far the power scaling has gone, Sage Mode should have been the strongest powerup Naruto got.

That being said, bring back the Kage days!

Well another issue is that Mei and Tsunade have only really had one extended battle ... and that was with Edo Madara, who makes any Kage look weak.

So that didn't do any favors to their reputation.

I still think Mei and Tsunade are worthy of the "Kage" title. Especially Mei. Lava is awesome =D

Well IMO Tsunade is worthy to be Kage. She is far better tank than Raikage, plus with her vast chakra pool and medic jutsu she is perfect to just stay in the village and keep others alive just as it was during Pain invasion arc.

1) It doesn't have to be an enclosed room (albeit your allies better get the f*ck away).
2) The fact that she was in a room actually limited the scale/use of her various jutsu
2) She set it up -> forced Sasuke into that situation
3) You didn't respond to the first part of my post
4) I think people forget how skilled Mei is not only with her KKG, but with the individual elements that go into them (that was a badass water dragon vs Madara (albeit, yes, it was also electrified)).

5) Don't get me wrong though, I agree that "Kage level" is thrown around too loosely these days. I just think you're underrating Tsunade and Mei.

You trying to protect gaara? He sucked as much as mei during that fight. You can't judge the kage from like their first part 2 fight. Or else Tsunade >>> other kage.

If we judge from this fight its Onoki >= Tsunade> Ay > Gaara > mei. Loosing to the god of shinobi doesn't make you bad and as far as i'm concerned its the only thing you can compare them off of.

Mei and Tsunade are the only female kage as well. You put that to work. The standard of hokage fell from the moment Tobirama got it :X and A from the previous, onoki from his previous and so on.

I can agree that the whole "kage level" thing reached an annoying level; I mean c'mon for example Lee is my favorite but there is no way he is gonna take on a kage (unless he can open the 8th gate and die); but the name of "kage" is overused. But the reason is not Mei and Tsunade imo; they are really strong but some things get way too op; in fact they are the ones who are on a good power scale. The only kage who is not worthy to the title is the 4th kazekae(based on seen).

It's not useless outside. It just becomes easier to evade. And can also be used to limit the movement of your opponent, that is, create a nice little cloud of boiling mist to corner them before covering them with lava

Anyhow, no point in going in circles here. I believe Tsunade and Mei are Kage level, but I agree that "Kage level" is thrown around too easily today.

You forgot mention that Sasuke already fought multiple samurai, Ay, Ay's group, Gaara, and Gaara's group before being confronted by Mei.

Anyway, Tsunade definitely deserves the kage title. Not only is she the perfect supportive ninja, but she can instaheal and take out somebody with a single landed strike. Mei's kg put her at kage rank. Lava and boil releases are very powerful and tactically formidable.

Hiruzen would lose to Tsunade quite easily. They both are strong. Tsunade is the second strongest kage of the current kages. Tsunade is even one of the better hokages, you can deny it all you want but it's true. Hiruzen was quite pathetic and Tobirama lacks feats. Minato vs Tsunade is debatable.
