That's a hole in the rim of her glasses. It's also there in Karin's glasses. The purpose of the hole I think is to ensure you don't get spots on your nose by excessive use of glasses which you will do if you don't have good eyesight.

I think since you can't really have any depth when it's all black, it is a form of shading in white to give it 3d effect. (rise where the bridge of the nose is) I think you can see it in Karin's picture as well.
