Yesterday, I was withdrawing cash from my bank account via an ATM. Everything was going smoothy; I've done this many times before. Eventually, the last page popped up questioning me if I still wanted to continue the process and if I did, I had to pay a small withdrawal fee. I didn't have to pay a fee if I went to a St George ATM (my personal bank) or a Westpac one but that was a couple of blocks away and I was in a rush, so screw it. So I tapped "Yes" to confirm my decision and another screen pops up saying it's processing my bank account and w/e.
During all of this, my friend, who was a couple of stores away, called me to ask where I was. We parted ways after he said he wanted to buy some food and I said I needed to withdraw some money but we will eventually meet-up soon. So I talked to him on my phone, telling him my location and talking about random stuff, and once I saw him in the distant background I walked up to him and we started heading to where we were initally going. Can you guess what I did wrong?
Yep, I forgot to take out the freaking cash out of the ATM. I realised it at the half-way point and immediately rushed back to the scene, only to find out that the fifty-dollar note wasn't there, not surprisingly. At that time, I seriously couldn't believe what I have just done. The phone call during the withdrawal process had somewhat distracted me. My friend said it was his fault but I assured him that it was my own fault. I mean, who the hell goes to an ATM machine to withdraw some cash and leave it lying there? I still feel a little-bit depressed over that incidence but I was laughing quite hard at that time over my silliness. It's funny how this happened after me and my mates talk about our personal experiences of losing money. A couple of days ago, the same friend who was with me yesterday, told me he had lost his fifty-dollar note while walking to somewhere. He said it most-likely happened when he pulled his phone out of his pocket, where he left his note (the cash wasn't in his wallet at that time). Lol
Anyway, this incident got me thinking: What's the most idiotic or ridiculous thing you've done so far? Or you can just share to everyone a scenario where you were being a dumb*ss.
