I just want to know what's the influence of this button from now on... I can see it's a new stuff , but what's the meaning , or the difference between this and rep button ? I mean this button-->

for a moment I thought that way as well , like a link to FB account but it's more like a rep , but why would they create 2 of them ?!

it seems they have the same function as +Rep and Thanks button.

It does not have the same function as +rep.

Since, you know...sayin' +rep doesn't mean you'll get it.

It's obviously a replacement for the "thanks" button.

Well unlike when it came to thanks button, you are actually able to like/dislike each post made in a specific thread rather then just having the thanks button available for the first post in the thread.

1) When you give rep to someone nobody else sees it, whereas with like everyone will.
2) Just because I like something you said doesn't mean it should raise your rep too. The way I see it rep points should be for when you consider a member contributes to the community in a positive way. Either by sharing info, helping other members or even by being a fun member or expressing interesting opinions/theories, thus making the community a more lively place.
