What's the fan obsession with Deidara... I just don't get it.

I understand he's obsessed with art and beauty. I also understand that he thinks destruction and chaos is beautiful. Like a homicidal Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni. I just don't see how someone that makes explosive living sculptures with the mouths in his hands have such diehard fans. I guess it's the mouths in the hands that creep me out a bit. I do like his hair though...

Deidara is my favorite fictional character of all time.

He's got a cool personality. He's not too weak, not too strong. He's beautiful. He's a comic relief.

There's nothing to hate about him.

Eh, he was popular back in the beginning of Part II, especially with fangirls who thought he was a cute bishonen and yaoi-paired him with Sasori (and everyone else). But then many more characters were introduced or explored more (for example Itachi's story became known) and his popularity waned. I used to bee a fan of him too just because he blew stuff up and didn't care - he was fun.
