the difference is the type of hollow the second one is a vosta lorde. the first is not.

First one is when he turned hollow in the Regai Invasion Arc cause he couldn't hold back the hollow after eating a special mod soul candy that Urahara made with his reiatsu, it is strong but not stronger then the second one which he turned into when he was vsing Ulquiorra he got out of control.

The difference is its his hallows next step in power. Its because his soul was facing annihilation, the threat of death the hallow came out to protect him. Since Ichigo already defeated and mastered his first hallow its power evolved.
