What's the difference between FX and Photoshop?

Music engineering and music mastering?

Video editing (like youtube videos) and creating high quality gifs? (for example gifs you would see on tumblr or highly edited ones)

And whats the chance of someone becoming highly skilled at all of them? I would love to be able to create super high quality gifs, great looking profile pictures, and do everything on my own

just mess around with them yourself for a bit then watch some professional tutorials or read guides. Not very hard you just need to spend time mastering them

It's easy to create high-quality gifs because all you're doing is condensing a clip. So it really depends on the quality of the clip you use.

The problem is that not many websites support high quality gifs. So even if your gif is 1080x720, you'd probably only be able to upload it to a 300x300 or something small like that. I haven't found a website that would let me upload a full sized gif clip.

And creating gifs is technically video editing.

As for photosphop. Well it's mainly for digital drawing and photo manipulation.

Not sure what you mean by FX. If you're referring to After-Effects, then that's a program used to create motion graphic animations of all sorts. It's one of the programs used in making CG in movies and creating commercials.

As for mastering all of it. Well it depends on what you mean by master? You can know the technicalities of the program inside and out, but it really depends on your imagination. It's not knowing the program that is hard. What's hard is thinking of something like how would the process of making a galaxy effect be like and where would you start, and what steps would you take to make it.

Same thing with Photoshop. Art is not linear. There are hundreds of different styles and ways to approach art. It all depends on what you're comfortable with and what you're aiming to make.

Not sure about the music though.

they are editing programs with various levels of depth. What they edit depends on program to program but the functionality is essentially to edit/create stuff.

Its possible to become highly skilled at all of them given time. one thing i do like about adobe programs is that the ui is similar across programs making it easier to learn multiple at once. For example Photoshop, Animate CC and Illustrator have similar layouts and most shortcut keys are the same across platform, so you don't have to relearn Ctrl+Alt+Z= step back/undo every time. Its the same in all 3.

Its probably why they do so well.

I just wished they had a raster based animation program instead of a vector based one.

Wow thanks for all of this substance! Now I know what FX is.

In your opinion what would be better to learn? FX or photoshop?

Depends on what you're trying to do.

Usually you kind of need to know Photoshop if you're also learning After Effects because say if you want to make an original animation with your own assets, then Photoshop might be needed to make them and then transfer into After Effects.

he can use Flash/Animate CC since its a more robust animating program.
