whats the difference between chidori and raikiri

The Chidori is unfocused and needs a lot of speed to actually cut into a target, What it is, is the lighting chakra in it's most basic form, it does increase the speed of the user and this is also why Sharingan was needed in order to counter act the tunnel vision.

Raikiri is highly focused lighting chakra where the user also has molded the lightning chakra making it much stronger and increasing the users speed even higher to make the pierce stronger.

In one sense yes there both the same in it's essence, on the other hand in terms of power the Raikiri is by far stronger.

Agreed Raikiri is essentially a far powerful version of Chidori which can cut the lightening itself hence the name Lightening Balde and yes it could kill the Raikage in v2 and it can also cut Sasuke's Kirin U_U

Yes all of the jutsu use the same methods but the difference is the chakra molding and control

Chidori means a thousand birds because the sound of the chidori/Raikiri is the sound of a thousand birds
Raikiri means lightening blade which is why in the english version Sasuke says Chidori and Kakashi says Lightening blade
