Honestly... besides the fact that Ama never goes out what's the difference? Logically speaking if you get hit with either one you should be burned alive and in turn dead. In fact when Sasuke fought Itachi his fire style sort of rivaled his.

That makes sense in a way but then again it doesn't cause if a person is hit by it they're gonna die regardless. That would just make Ama a waste of chakra. Now if he were using it against a tailed beast then I would understand kinda like how Sasuke did against Bee

Normal Katon is no way near as hot as Amaterasu but for plot purposes, those flames that burn as hot as the sun must not burn quickly.
