Nah, i'm guessing when tobi (pretending to be madara ) came to nagato etc and told him about collecting bijuu and making the weapons ..that's when akatsuki started recruiting s rank ninja who could fight bijuu .. But i;m sure a few members stayed in it and was probably partnered with kakuzu and died
