Not really.

While Konan actually got some favorable treatment, Tsunade and Mei haven't received the same.

1. Tsunade and Mei are the weakest out of the five Kage.
2. Tsunade is the weakest of the Sannin.
3. Tsunade isn't even the strongest in her village, which is something that all Hokages are supposed to be. But I still think she is a great Hokage regardless.
4. Mei has no background or much of a personality. (Kishi was probably trying to make a "strong" female ninja and forgot to give her some of the essentials: personality, motivations, a story)
5. All the other females of the series are the weakest in their respective groups and get little to no screentime (even the female lead, Sakura, barely gets any)

Mei shows enough personality traits, i can tell shes a pleasant lady who flirts with guys she thinks are hot and is sensitive about her love life...

and i forgot to mention Temari the PERFECT example of a STRONG female...

Personally, I kinda did like Anko, because she was strong (Mid-Jonin), and had a little dark tint to her personality, since she was a student from Orochimaru.

I guess the Uchiha brothers saving her, is the only thing you can hope for... but still doesn't change the fact that she is another damsel in distress...

also this would only happen if Itachi gets Sasuke back to his senses,

and becomes the neutral anti-hero again

Exactly, that's all she'll ever be is a cougar, who flirts with younger males *cough* Sasuke and a lady who constantly thinks about love and marriage. It's a bit of a stereotype don't you think.

The point is not who is the strongest, but it's the fact that they are the weakest in every group that gets me. I'm sure if this had been reversed and the males were the weakest in every group, then you would be upset with that.

I wouldn't say Temari is the "perfect" example of a strong female. Maybe for this manga, but she hardly even gets enough screentime to even show it and is overshadowed by her brothers.

I really like her because of his snakes control.Orochimaru left her because she wasn't ambitious enough,so she must have potential.Sadly I think she won't have much screen time.

Temari STILL gets more screen time than Kankuro and jutsus too, although thats not much in conparison to Gaara ...

it was established that she was Orochimaru's student and had learned all her techniques from him, and yet Kishimoto just Ignored her without trying to explain her past....
then she reappears only to get curb stomped by Kabuto...

so i ask whats left for Anko...

the only thing she had that made her important was that she was Orochimaru's student but now she has like nothing to add to the plot (except chakra)...

i hope that she has some something that would increase the plot like for example: she knew Itachi as a kid, she knows the WEAKNESS of edo tensei, she has a special ability from her clan (Orochimaru must have been interested in her for SOME reason), etc...

Orochimaru is a character who affects the plot, even after his death...

and his student has yet to become truly interesting, he doesn't even try to explain her mysterious past or anything, i'm hoping he has her wake up and become Interesting for atleast half a chapter...

its like making a pie, but leaving it in the oven ...

most of them have been important already...

Sakura had her fights against Ino and Sasori, Kiba had his fights against Naruto and Sakon/ Ukon, Shino had his battles against Zaku, Kankuro, and Tobi, Hinata had her battle against Neji and Pain, Neji had his fights against Naruto and Kidomaru, Rock Lee has his fights against Gaara and Kimmimaro, Tenten had ??? never mind, Shikamaru had his fights against Tayuya and Hidan, Choji's fight against Jirobo and Asuma, Ino had her fight against Sakura, Asuma had his fight against Hidan, etc...

oh i'm sorry did i get carried away ...

I agree in the sense that Anko is an interesting character with a quite unique background (Oro's student and all that), which could have been exploited by Kishi and make her an interesting side character. However, as things look out, she's just gonna be napping all the freaking time. I don't remember if Kabuto already absorbed her curse seal, if he did, I have nothing to say, but if he didn't yet, there's probably a reason Kishi is keeping her on the sideline.

well considering he's waited this long to explain Kabuto's origins, maybe he'll take some time to establish more about Anko later (assuming he has some plans for her, if not then she will forever be dead weight)...
