Just got to thinking about the 3rd Hokage and I cant remember anything to awesome about him. I remember him using the sealing jutsu on Orochimaru, which was very powerful, but that was more of an ace up his sleeve rather than an awesome ability. can anyone enlighten me on how this man attained the rank of Hokage? Also - How do you guys think he ranks against the other Hokages?

He was the student of both senju hokage, senju being a clan who were known for being versed in all skills, and having 1000's if jutsu, Because of that he had a knack for learning jutsu, and apparently at 1 time knew all existing konoha jutsu, note existing konoha jutsu isn't all the jutsu in konoha.. just jutsu that were current at the time...
So about twice in the manga he was said to have over 1000 jutsu , sakura comparing him to Kakashi
Other than that, he was incredibly strong, and a genius, kishi hypes him to be the strongest hokage via manga and databooks , kabuto stated he was the strongest Kage even in his old age

Infact it is not. Its clear he cannot use kekkai genkai. But every jutsu obtainable in the village. Which is including all kinjutsu.

urm no, according to the databook , for someone to master all natures, it would take many many many years of work

naruto was able to cover 6 months training in a few hours, and that was his affinity element... mastering a non affinity element is much harder... They never said hiruzen MASTERED all the elements, taking a look at naruto's traning , that would take hundreds of years(without rinnegan).. which is why orochimaru said mastering all jutsu is impossible in a the short time of a human life, he thus seeked for immortality , hiruzen simply learnt the jutsu.. for eg , grand fire ball technique, he would have learnt and be able to use it, but tht doesnt mean he was a master of fire release ( though he was

and the skills thing comes from their name, senju, it means 1000 hands , raw manga pages put ๅใฎๆใๆใคไธๆใ meaning 1000 skills . i'll do more research on it for the while , for now you can call it conjecture

Okay, from reading your comments I see that his power is portrayed by the words of others, rather than his actions in the series. I guess I missed allot of those nods. Are there any fight's/flashbacks featuring the 3rd that you guys can recall? (besides the final fight with Orochimaru)
