What's going on in the villages?

We all know that one of the great things about the anime is that is able to elaborate and expand on the original story from the manga, even if it's not canon. That being said, one thing I would like to see explored in this arc, which was not covered at all in the manga, is what is happening in the villages.

Much like the feudal lords, the civilians of the hidden villages need protection and security. They had to leave some shinobi behind for defense, and it'd be interesting to have an episode (or even part of one) that covered their side of the story.

There are a few ninja I could think of that haven't been featured in the war, and this is a way that they can be worked into the story. For example, they could tell it through Kurenai's perspective, and we could find out where she's at in her pregnancy.

What do you think? Would this be worth it, or just a waste of time?

I think its a good idea. I think it should show mainly peaceful times and how unaware the average person in the village is of what is exactly going on. Dont get me wrong the villagers should show some concern, especially those like the village elders and others like Konohamaru, but for the most part there should be calm and peace with a hint of uneasiness.

I would love to see a few rogue ninja try to loot the leaf village while the Hokage and others are away, only to be ensnared in Kurenai's genjutsu and defeated by Konohamaru and other genin. Its a great chance to show the abilities of the next generation of shinobi. Of course all the majorly strong shinobi are off to war so these would be weaker rogue shinobis.
