What you don't like on your favorite character

We see a lot of threads on NB about why you like your favorite character or why you dislike your least favorite character, but even the most rabid fanboy can admit that their fav is not perfect.
So, to change all the Naruto vs Sasuke and NaruHina vs NaruSaku threads lately, let's talk about that little thing you hate/don't like/thinks is kinda meh about that shinobi you usualy defend with your heart and soul.
I'll go first:

1. Nagato: Despite loving with a passion the philosfical debate between Nagato and Naruto, Hate and Pain against love and forgivness, I admit that Nagato changed his ideals too quickly. I mean, he spend decades harboring that hatred, creating a plano, and poof! Everything suddenly changes? I get it that this is a shounen manga, that the main character can chance everything with the power of love and friendship...
But pushed my sense of disbelief a little.

2. Itachi: Itachi is perfect. And that's a problem. He is TOO perfect. Even bordering on a Mary Sue at his worst.
I mean, he gets praised by everyone he makes contact with, deal with almost all his battles quickly, create some special jutsus from thin air to real with an issue (Im looking at you, Izanami). And that kind of brings him down to me atleast. I wanted that atleast ONE character opinion of him would be "meh". That would give more weight to all the praising.

3:Kabuto: Too arrogant. That's kind of iffy, seeing how the arrogance is kind of a reason why I like him too, but sometimes it boils to something borderline stupid. Because he underestimate his oponents, he let himself wide open for Naruto's Rasengan, charges straight against a FREAKING FOUR TAILS KYUUBI.
And seriously? Would it hurt to leave at least one edo tensei with you?

But remember: I freaking LOVE this characters! But a little bit of constructive criticism is always welcome or we risc falling in fanboyism...

And no want wants that.

I got to include Itachi though. He tortured Sasuke mentaly several times, not rly something a hero and "perfect" person would do. The things that he said to Sasuke were in many ways messed up and made him obsessed over power. It's completely Itachis fault. He also agreed on killing the Uchiha and we all know, that not every Uchiha wanted a revolution, many were innocent and some of them probably even children. Itachi is objectively really messed up in the head on many levels. I still somewhat like him though.

Itachi is objectively really messed up in the head on many levels. I still somewhat like him though.

Itachi is not perfect so of course he made mistakes he's human not some God or something and while he did do bad terrible things to Sasuke it served the purpose of making him stronger. Even if Itachi decided to not kill the Uchiha they wouldve been massacred anyway including Sasuke who's played a big role throughout the story.

He's not a Gary Stu. And definitely not a Mary Sue- that's the female term. If you want a Gary Stu, look towards most of War arc Naruto and Hebi Sasuke, also some of MS Sasuke. You misused the term in referring to Itachi as one greatly here. xD

No, Itachi's not perfect. His mistake lies in not killing off his emotions completely. He still has some kindness in him at the end of the day. He didn't kill unless he absolutely had to, even when people were a threat. He could have been 100% safe and killed Sasuke, but he failed to do so and instead opted for a lengthy plan that would benefit only his brother in the end and not himself. He should have saved himself the trouble, tbh.

Izanami was foreshadowed since Izanagi. And Itachi told Bee and Naruto in the 2011 issue that he had several plans for defeating Kabuto. Then, he has the fight and says numerous times that it's already decided (he was giving Kabuto hints that he was recording, so that he'd change his mind prior to getting trapped in Izanami.)

He doesn't pull techs out of thin air. This actually applies more to characters like Team 7, Minato, etc. All of Itachi's techs have been foreshadowed (Kishimoto uses mythological themes constantly with Itachi). He is also known to have researched on his own since he was a child. And he is also stated to use his strongest techs for last... he starts off a fight with kunai. Lol This is just good battle tactics, nothing more and nothing less.

You do realize that there are numerous people who bash Itachi in the manga, right? In fact, all of Narutoverse hates him bar Sasuke, Naruto, Kakashi, Yamato, and the elders at the moment. He's been called the most vile shinobi in all of Konoha's history, heartless and a selfish bastard, odd and weird, and Naruto is apparently a better brother than he is. He's been bashed more than Sasuke has... in fact more than Obito and Madara have as well. He doesn't need to be bashed more. To top it off, he even realized his own mistakes. He's been called out the most in this manga, ironically.

-It wasn't several times. It was twice... that equates to a couple. And it was a very weak version of Tsukiyomi each time... only 24 hours. The first time was to make Sasuke hate him so that Sasuke wouldn't hate Konoha. The second was to incapacitate him since Sasuke had 2-tomoe at that point and sharingan genjutsu doesn't work on other sharingan users like that. So, he knocked him out and didn't have to kill him. It made Sasuke more powerful, saved 100,000 people in Konoha, and Sasuke's life. Yes, it was heroic and completely justified no matter how much you want to feel sorry for Sasuke (don't know why you would, since in the end it benefited him).

-He admitted he wasn't perfect. No one is perfect.

-He told him to focus on revenge and hate him. Avenging one's own kin is messed up? I never thought so. Especially considering the circumstance he was in.

-No, nothing is Itachi's fault once Sasuke hears the truth. Anything Sasuke does after his Hebi phase is 100% his own fault for being selfish and weak-minded.

-No, in the databook and manga it states that the majority (meaning over 50%) were in the Police Force at that time. And, it was also stated that if you were old enough to know about it, you knew and supported it. Only Itachi and Shisui didn't agree with it. Nearly no one was innocent. Only kids were. And, he didn't agree to the annihilation. He carried it out because they were going to be annihilated anyway. He prevented a civil war definitely, possible a shinobi world war, saved his clan's reputation, and the one innocent Uchiha he could. This is why he's the best antihero in this manga. He didn't have a deciding factor on whether or not his clan died, the blood is on Konoha's hands. Kishimoto effectively washed Itachi's hands clean of that with the truth reveal. He saved face by doing it and carried the burden alone. It was honorable.

-Objectively? Funny that you say that. Because objectively, all shinobi are messed up in the head with Itachi being the least. Then, in context of the story and given his situation, Itachi remains to be the most calm, collected, and sane character in the series.

Because killing Danzo would be stupid. The Uchiha are not trusted since they were all absent during the Kyuubi attack for an unknown reason. The Uchiha heir randomly killing the 2nd most politically powerful (or most powerful, since Hiruzen gave him complete reign over Konoha's dark side) individual in Konoha (an advisor and leader of Root) would send off red flags. They'd demand payback from the Uchiha and the civil war starts the next day. I'm glad he didn't do that. Lol

Kakashi's self pity sessions are some of the most annoying things in this manga. I'm tired of seeing him feel sorry for himself. It's not cute or humble. Just self-centered in the way he does it. He needs to get over things and move on. Also, the way he put faith in Naruto alone completely, when he himself is still alive and can help him is not all that great.
