What 'year' would Naruto Shippuuden be at if it was in the real world?

I'm confused because the environment and buildings of Naruto overall look like the ones you usually see in those medieval ninja japan pew pew movies.

It could be that they just prefer not to evolve with technology as fast we we do. I think they prefer culture over all.

The building style is something normal for Japan, aside from the ultra-modern buildings we can see in Tokyo (Note that I'm not a specialist here). Throughtout the whole manga, we've seen a fair load of modern items: Konoha Jonins' standart jackets (pockets and all), ANBU's camouflage suits, radio communications, modern medical equipment, Naruto's outfit, Aoba's dark glasses, movies... the list can go on and on. Honestly, with these thrown in, one can't actually set a definite "year".

According to Kishi, naruto was actually in modern society (Probably referring to 2006+), just that they don't have things like phones, firearms and motor vehicles. However, they have electricity, convenience shops, street lights etc.
