No, sage mode is much better than just ms. Sasuke would have spammed his ms techniques so much that he would have gone blind during the battle. The paths would defeat Sasuke. Sasuke lacks kyubi.

realistically neither one should have had a chance at the time. current Naruto and current Sasuke would be able to defeat Pain but even now, it wouldn't be that easy of a fight considering its 6 on 1
