it has nothing to do with the older/new generations, when i was your age, i was trouble and continued to be trouble until about 21 (of course the trouble grew seriously as i grew older, getting arrested ........... that kind of stuff) AND my father was even more trouble than me when he was young.

the thing is you can never know how good you will be at raising/discipline your children until you're a parent, some parents can't even find it in their hearts to be strict/hard on their children (but i agree with you teaching them discipline is important) BUT i think most of what happens these days comes from the children getting exposed to things they can't handle/understand at a young age (they are easy to be influenced by the craziest things, can't process their thoughts right) and in this case, a good understanding conversation is a lot better than being strict.

anyways as you grow up you SERIOUSLY start realizing the crazy stuff they had to put up with (and the reason why they did it), and you realize/appreciate what they gave you (what you couldn't even comprehend at a young age).

last thing i want to say is, the older generations were just as crazy (if not crazier) as the new ones (just in a different way).

all i can say to you is respect/learn/be opened to you parents/elders coz you owe them that much (you seem very smart/understanding for a 14 years old) *_*.

Wake up in the morning, push ups workout off to school
comeback homework than off to the gym with me,
Saturday and Sunday he can have fun but when he comes back home he has to study a bit.
Never swear ( like me if I swear I get punished and I never swear)
Christmas, get him what he like if he has followed the rules. LOL and for holidays boot camp awaits for him/her LOL

Not trying to be rude, but that sounds like a horrible childhood.

The problem with the current era is that we have too much freedom (It's been that way for about 30 years now)....But too much restriction can also affect children negatively.

Anyway, I'm 16-years-old, and I had a pretty normal childhood. Nothing really out of the ordinary. I hung out with friends, I watched TV. That's it. And I consider myself to be quite mature for my age as well. I'm usually very polite and I've never gotten into any kind of trouble either. In fact, all 3 of my brothers lived the same as I did and ended up well.

I was outside when I unless it was snowing. I was extremely respectful to my elders. Hold doors open for people. I even helped old ladies across the street. I called my mom a ***** once and got slapped across the face, never did that again. People nowadays are pieces of Shit mostly cause their parents suck. My kids are extremely polite because that's what I taught them. My 3 yr old daughter will even open a automatic door for people

Its me HaterFtw Number 1.I am the 14 year old one, my older brother is not the one writing this.

Even though I am still a young person, I was/am very different to the newer generation.If you want to know how just read, if you don't than just post your answer to the title.

Growing up as a kid i never got any Christmas present and BIG birthday presents.I lived in a country called Georgia.I was outside all the time playing games with my friend, and other times playing my ps 1 with my uncles.We played resident evil 1, 2, 3 as well as Tekken 3, Smackdown and i think it was fifa 2004 or something.I use to get hit by the teachers in school, hit by my grandma, grandpa and my mum and dad, but this was just a normal thing for me since I thought everyone got hit.I did not really know that Ps3 and all the technology existed until I came to live in England , with my big brother,Dad and Mum.I saw the world, a world full of carelessness, demand and hate.Everywhere i looked, i saw little kids crying to their mothers about them wanting that toy, swearing, hitting each other.I was very suprised by this since my dad is 100% English but he never seemed to behave that bad.

The newer generation bully each other more, swear, smoke and have less discipline.I am not an Angel, I get quite a few detentions in school and I don't really study a lot but nothing bad as the inner evil in these childeren.

It is not about generations specifically,its to do with how you were brought up,
as well as where of course.If your parents are wise,but you live in a medium or low level of wealth,you will or should turn out wise.Though one's personality and friends has to do a lot with how one ends up.For me,I don't even compare with everyday simpletons.

- Managed to catch the Atari 2600 generation

I'm 21 and will be 22 in a month and my childhood was awesome! I used to play a lot outside! I was a District level tennis player[under 16], I was runner up in ISKA 2005 in two categories and fourth place in three [marshal arts, under 14] and I was youngest to be selected in SPB[special-potential-batch] in a popular dance academy xd Compared to what I did or how I was at that age today's kids are very different, not to brag or anything but my childhood was very eventful! School was great too, I used to fight a lot and thanks to Karate I used to win 95% of those fights XD About PC/Video games well I played 2-d video-games from the age of 6 to 9 and then went from POP, SOF to Hitman, Hitman 2! My parents were particular about this so I never got a PS or Xbox, I used to go to my dad's office whenever I got the chance and play the aforementioned PC games on a spare computer with my older brother [no games on home network] Now life is great but still a little dull compared to my former life, well it'll change soon enough when I return back to country

Well actually if your 14 your in the same generation as the "newer generation", generations last about 25-30. You can say newer generation when you and your brother both have children of your own, or when you reach the age where the majority of people in your age range have children. Then the kids would be the newer generation. As for now sir you are part of the newer generation.

My childhood was cool though, it was around the time when gaming starting getting big. It started off with the Sega Genesis everyone was playing that then we moved up through the systems. Dragon Ball Z had just started and everyone was watching that up through the seasons. I was just starting to learn to play guitar, the girls were easy and the weather was breezy, and as a child your oblivious to a lot of things out side of yourself so it was good times.

The world changes in your eyes as you grow up. You realize nothing is beautiful and ideally. I'm just sorry I saw many innocent children dying and suffering in front of my eyes which most of my generations haven't seen and don't understand. That made me quite cold-hearted when someone complains about a flu or headache. :|

I don't know how different I am compared to the newer generation, heck... I may still be part of it, but... I enjoyed being 14 a lot. It will always be one of my favourite ages ever, especially from my adolescence - I really enjoyed 14 and 18.

I recommend, because this is what I did several years ago (when I was your exact age), watching Eureka 7.
