what were the uchihas doing in the night of kyubi attack?

It seems like the Uchihas disappeared on purpose so they don't protect the village based on their grudge on the leaf.

Did the Uchihas have connection with Obito and he told them about the attack or they just disappeared to watch the village burn?



One of the things Obito told sasuke about was the village accusing the Uchiha of the attack.


now what's exactly the connection between the Uchihas and the attack?

They just weren't there, which fueled the two Elders' beliefs that the Uchiha did it.
Common misconception: The Elders are not as sneaky and mysterious as Danzō. They are legitimately looking out for Konoha. Not debatable. Just because they supported and respected Danzō doesn't mean they are Danzō.
