[Spoilers] what was the purpose of the war?

As far as I'm concerned, the whole war is going on for tobi's "tsyukomi genjutsu whatever" and looking at the latest chapter he already has everything he needs, then what was the need to go after naruto and killer bee?


Someone explain please, because I'm confused...

he needed the ninetails chakra, he only got it because of the war

he preferably would have tried to get both but, now he won't

he got what he needed after it started. the war was for Naruto and Bee. Tobi needed the Fox's chakra and while he did have Bee's testicle tentacle, he wanted to see if he could get Bee while getting Naruto.

however, since he was able to use the Gold and Silver bros, he was like "F^ck it" and used the tentacle. he didnt know that Kabuto had the bros. if he did, he might have just taken them from the get-go. its because he didnt know, the war begun
